Other places
Bern: Not because it's Switzerland's capital city, but because it's a town
with all the warmth and ambiance only old towns can spend. From Zuerich in
modern Railway cars you can be there in about 70 minutes.
Tierpark Goldau: In this nature park you are fenced in with the animals
(deer, goats, donkeys). You may
touch and feed them. There are also some fenced in animals like bears, birds,
pigs. Always in spring there are bear puppies which are introduced to the
visitors. A visit is probably a great day for your kids. The park is in walking
distance to the railway station Goldau.
The rocky environment was created when part of nearby mountain "Rossberg"
tumbled down, burying hundreds of people. On last Christmas a severe storm knocked
down most of the forest in the park.
Sattel Hochstuckli: In winter it's a Ski region while in the summer it's
an excellent region for hiking. The specialty after winter season is the
Rollerpark, with infrastructure for roller-skates. There is a chairlift from Sattel
to Hochstuckli. Public transport by Bus (Zug-Oberaegeri-Sattel) or by train
(SBB, Zug-Goldau, then SOB Goldau-Sattel).
Brig Zermatt: Brig, flanked by big mountains is an old town and the
starting point for the railroad to Zermatt. A very rewarding hiking trip is
"Loetschberg Hoehenweg" from Hohtenn back to Brig. On the walking
track there
are ancient water channels.
Why not go on a roundtrip Zug-Goeschenen (Gotthard line)
Goeschenen-Andermatt-Brig (Furka Oberalp Bahn [part of "Glacier
express" route]) Brig-Thun-Bern (Loetschberg Bahn) Bern-Zuerich-Zug. If you
have a special ticket check whether it's accepted on Furka Bahn (FOB) as well. |
